V2 BLOCK 1: PERFORMANCE CRITICISM RECEIVED A DIRECT ANSWER

Contents

Fenix's 5 August 2023 article was direct about the weakness being addressed. The developer acknowledged an unsatisfactory experience on customer PCs and described a rebuilt display-rendering pipeline alongside model and systems-code work. Beta comparisons came with an explicit warning that results varied by system. This establishes that performance criticism had entered the development agenda; it is not independent proof of an identical gain for every owner. AVSIM’s rollout thread shows the resulting optimism. Jeff Nielsen wrote, "Under promising and way way way OVER delivering." Contributors welcomed the announced A319/A321 expansion and new flight-model and fly-by-wire work. These were reactions to a plan. The thread also preserved an expectation that Block 2 would follow in September 2023, which must be distinguished from the eventual delivery date. [23, 4 August 2023; Jeff Nielsen and lwt1971; reposted Block 2 timing]

Block 1 arrived on 10 August 2023. Contemporary reporting described performance, flight-modelling, avionics and display improvements together with known issues. V2 needs its block number in a historical account. The first block was a substantial delivered update; the later visual rebuild, IAE engine and EFB package belonged to the next stage. Combining them hides what owners were actually evaluating. [24, 10 August 2023; release scope and known issues]
