THE 2025 BFU: ANOTHER MAJOR UPDATE, ANOTHER CONTESTED FIRST WEEK
Reception around the July 2025 BFU repeated a familiar pattern. A supplementary r/flightsim thread recorded substantial performance losses, view-panning microstutters or full VRAM for some owners, while another reported high frame rates at demanding airports. Contributors also objected to criticism being treated as hostility. Affection for the product and frustration with a regression could exist in the same post. FCU hardware detail from the 2025 presentation: selected windows and mode controls are visible; actual guidance is confirmed on the FMA. Original 2025 source; the surrounding glareshield is outside this detail. [39, Official presentation: physical aircraft or control detail]
An August crash thread was similarly mixed. The opening author reported repeated crashes, tested a patch and eventually completed some flights without identifying the original cause. Other users described freezes, while some reported no crashes. The later edits matter: omitting them freezes the account at its worst moment; treating successful flights as a universal fix would overstate the result. AVSIM's September patch thread carried developer notes on further fly-by-wire and autothrust changes, alongside UrgentSiesta's delight at flight-model improvements forming the core of an update. The reposted notes explain what changed; the response explains why an owner valued it. Neither automatically settles July's complaints. The record shows iterative improvement and uneven outcomes, rather than one turning point that ended all objections. [41, 2–3 September 2025; reposted Patch 2 introduction and UrgentSiesta reply]
