JOYSTICKS: ESTABLISH CLEAN PITCH AND ROLL INPUT
1. In Windows, search for Set up USB game controllers, choose the stick and open Properties. Check centre and full travel. Where the standard wizard is offered, use Settings and Calibrate; otherwise use the manufacturer utility. Fenix recommends calibrated controls and linear sensitivity for pitch, roll, rudder and tiller. [61, Controller Axis Sensitivity; calibration steps]
2. Map lateral movement to Ailerons Axis and fore-and-aft movement to Elevator Axis. The SDK distinguishes proportional axis events from incremental commands. 3. Move each independently while watching its input indication. Correct a reversed direction at the binding, then retest. Do not add an opposite command as a workaround. [63, AXIS_AILERONS_SET; AXIS_ELEVATOR_SET; incremental commands]
4. With Fenix appropriately powered, compare stick movement with the received control input. Check smooth travel and return to centre without unintended movement of another axis. This is an input test; interpreting powered surface movement also requires the system state described in the flight-controls chapter. [64, Proper assignments; response in CONTROLS CONFIG]
