FROM A CONSORTIUM TO AN INTEGRATED COMPANY

Contents

The industrial organisation changed alongside the aircraft. The 2000 EADS prospectus describes the planned Airbus Integrated Company, combining Airbus-related assets in France, Germany, Spain and the UK. It specifies an 80% EADS interest and a 20% BAE Systems interest. This contemporary document anchors a corporate history that later summaries sometimes compress. [29, Recent developments: Airbus Integrated Company]

The 2001 annual report says Airbus operated on an integrated basis from the beginning of that year and that its results were fully consolidated in EADS accounts. Full accounting consolidation does not mean that every minority share had disappeared. Ownership, consolidation and management integration need separate dates and descriptions. [30, Airbus:2001results and integration]

EADS was renamed Airbus Group in 2014, and the stock-market listing name became Airbus in 2017. Those are corporate naming events. They do not imply that earlier Airbus aircraft belong to a different aeronautical design lineage. A historical reference can legitimately name EADS or Airbus according to its date and organisational subject. [31, Company profile and listing chronology]
