UTC CONSTRAINTS: MODEL, FEASIBILITY AND V3 VERIFICATION BOUNDARY

Contents

A required crossing time, a predicted ETA and a programmed time constraint are different quantities. The supplied Thales guide explains a time-management model, but it does not by itself prove that every optional UTC/RTA function is available in current Fenix V3. This topic preserves the technical distinction and the source's limitations without publishing a legacy keystroke procedure as current simulator advice. [66, PDF pp. 399-403,671] [21, PDF pp. 51-64]

1. Define the requirement accurately. Establish the fix, UTC reference and whether the operational requirement is exact, not-before or not-after. These distinctions must remain explicit even when the prediction screen contains only one time. A display cannot turn one kind of requirement into another. Confirm a valid aircraft clock and compare the requirement with the actual estimated crossing time. [66, PDF pp. 399-403,671] [21, PDF pp. 51-64]

2. Understand the manufacturer's model. The cited standard allows one programmed UTC constraint in a plan; another replaces it. It represents time AT a fixed-position waypoint and explicitly provides no AT OR BEFORE or AT OR AFTER function. These are source-standard properties, not universal claims about V3 capacity. They explain why a manual's example must be read together with its functional limitations. [66, PDF pp. 399-403,671] [21, PDF pp. 51-64]

3. Read feasibility as a result. The model adjusts the economic speed computation within operational limits while respecting other applicable conditions. A requested time can therefore be predicted missed. Typing a target, where a verified current implementation supports it, cannot guarantee the atmosphere, clearance or aircraft performance will permit it. Keep actual speed/mode and the resulting estimate in the monitoring picture. [66, PDF pp. 399-403,671] [21, PDF pp. 51-64]

4. Account for changing context. The manufacturer describes constraints being removed or becoming unavailable through sequencing, holding, phase changes and other revisions. Those mechanisms explain why a stored time and a continuing ATC requirement are separate matters. If a representation disappears, the external requirement does not disappear automatically. Reconcile the current flight, clearance and estimate rather than relying on an earlier page state. [66, PDF pp. 399-403,671] [21, PDF pp. 51-64]

5. Restrict V3 instruction to verified capability. Current field availability, supported qualifiers and insertion/deletion behaviour need direct current evidence before this guide can provide a time-entry sequence. No older-Fenix workaround or manufacturer-option recipe is supplied here. A time requirement still receives the normal operational monitoring and appropriate cleared speed/guidance management; an unverified optional MCDU facility is not assumed to perform it.
